One thing I miss is planting flags at the cemetery with the Boy Scouts.
It helps put the holiday in its proper perspective.
My Uncle Al is in a different cemetery and whatever Boy Scout troop handles that one had forgotten my Uncle Al so I'll take a flag out there like I've done in years past.

What's your Memorial looking like?

Memorial Day

Our youngest grandson graduates from high school tonight, so we'll be there for that. We'll go out for dinner tomorrow evening, then a graduation "party", or more of a get-together, on Saturday. I'm substituting this Sunday morning for the teacher of the Bible study we go to. Monday will hopefully be very very laid back, with very little or no interaction with the outside world apart from our house. Flags will be at half mast at our house, and we'll place some flags at a local cemetery, and probably do some grilling and I plan to smoke a cigar and sip on a completely dry martini or two in the back yard.

I'll be praying for a dear CPS brother I've never met and avoiding the celebrations and feel good stuff like the plague. It's not an easy holiday. Too many scars on people I love to do much celebrating.

I returned home from the cemetery----lots of activity and lots of flags.
Whatever groups that planted flags for this Memorial day were thorough.
The old Catholic cemetery and the old Armenian cemetery were flagged---something I haven't seen in decades.
Even my Uncle Al :D

Best wishes to everyone today, as we remember all of the service men and women all over the world, under the sky and in the sea. I pray it's a peaceful day for everyone.
