2024 Summer Anthem

Post by Hovannes »

What is it?
What song defines the Summer of 2024?

Without a car with a real radio, I don't know what's leading the top 40.

I Googled "top 40", to see if there still is a top 40, and apparently there is. I wasn't sure that folks even listen to live radio still, other than talk radio. But I picture some Taylor Swift song being up there. We (wife and I) can listen to her alright; the songs always remind me of our granddaughter's high school choir concert solos. Otherwise I'm totally and completely out of touch with current music of all genres.

But, I've asked my grandson this question, so we'll see what he says, if he replies.

Ok, so, my grandson says "Free Bird", and his girlfriend says "I should have been a Cowboy". They are both 18 y.o.. Not too bad.

Top 40 was a thing when popularity was measured by listener sales and play requests. "One Hit Wonders" could still appear at any random moment.

Ever since music tastes were manufactured by a few studio moguls, I have paid no attention to pop music. Apparently, Taylor Swift has the economic impact of a small nation -- but I couldn't name a single TS song or recognize her sound if I you put a gun to my head.

The next Taylor Swift will be generated by AI.

2024 Summer Anthem

This was 2019, not 2024. It was released in September, which isn't really summer. Summertime isn't even mentioned in the song. I don't think it was ever popular. Still, a summer playlist needs at least one EDM pick. Also in its favor is that it is NOT "Texas Hold 'Em" by Beyonce.

I am not as cool as JimVH. Nor or you. Well, unless you ARE JimVH.
