I absolutely love the stuff! I get the bricks from Walmart and enjoy every last slice. I find it best enjoyed with brandy, but bourbon is a good option as well.

I adore fruitcake.

I don't know why it gets such a bad rap....

People who find fruitcake to be dry haven't prepared it properly by pouring a bottle of bourbon on it.
I am not as cool as JimVH. Nor or you. Well, unless you ARE JimVH.

See all of my related comments in the confections thread. But I'll add this fact, I don't recall ever buying fruitcake. Any fruitcake I've ever eaten was homemade. Store bought fruit cakes really don't look too good.

True story.

Fruitcake is not truly ready to serve until it’s flammable.

Rita had a lot of family in Corsicana. I’m sure I’ve eaten pounds of Collin Street Bakery fruitcake over the years.

At the risk of sounding like a suck-up, y’all’s is the best I’ve had.

Have I sent you a fruitcake? I wish I'd known earlier.

But speaking further of fruitcake, I saw a recipe in NYT yesterday for one from the Caribbean, very very dark and very rich looking, that I'd be interested in.
