How I look...

At my new job I've had multiple people ask me if I was in the military. I get this fairly often. After explaining that, in another life, I was a missionary, one guy said, "Missionary, or mercenary?" Another guy asked me, "Seriously...how many people have you killed?"

I don't know whether I should be more conscientious of my facial expressions, or thankful I have a " don't mess with me" look...which I've never considered myself having.

A resting killer face could be a tremendous asset.

Be yourself. Any butthole that would jump to that conclusion without knowing you isn’t worth your concern.

I have a friend who is tall, shaved head, and intimidating. He's had tough guys ask him "Don't I know you from somewhere?" He answers them, "I don't think so, I've never been to prison in this state."

Being intimidating looking isn't a bad thing to those who don't know that you're really a fuzzy bunny inside.

You'd think such a face would be an asset, but I've found it is a real liability. My resting face condemns even the horse the viewer rode upon to get to me.

That said, I wish I had Jim's self-confidence.

It's good to keep people guessing I suppose. I've been told I look mean and intimidating as well even though I don't act that way at all. The wrong people tend to look for an easier target so that's probably a good thing. People generally don't mess with me even when I'm places I probably shouldn't be like the bad neighborhoods which my job sometimes takes me to. You may also find it helpful in keeping the bad boys away from your daughters. It has helped in my case with my daughters. I like to keep them guessing at what I might be capable of.

I've been told that I look "pissed."

When Cigarson was in early high school, I lugged his bass amplifier into the classroom where Catholic Youth Org. was meeting and schlepped out.

One kid said to my son, "Hey, Buck. Your dad looks pissed!"

Cigarson replied, "Yeah. He just found out that he's dumb."
