Calculating Esther

Esther is actually a bit tricky to calculate.

The Protestant Fathers removed parts of Esther (to save weight, I suppose). Oddly, they removed all the prayers and canticles from the Book. Thus Evangelicals have a trivia question, "Which Book of the Bible contains no references to God?" -- Esther! (The dumbfounded looks on the faces of Catholics just shows how little they know about the Bible.)

Anyhow, the heavy Bibles keep the 10 chapters and verses numbered according to the Protestant index. And the restored parts are referred to as Chapters A thru F.

Esther opens with Chapter A.
Chapter B is in the middle of Chapter 3.
Chapters C and D occur between Chapters 4 and 5.
Chapter E is in the middle of Chapter 8.
Chapter F closes the Book of Esther.

Happy Purim, everyone!
