What are your favorites?
What are alternative dishes that should be on every table?
What are the traditional dishes that you would just as soon skip?

Chili Colorado (red chili meat) is a family tradition.

I love most traditional meal stuff, but most of our holidays have evolved into lower maintenance alternatives. Particularly, meals that can sit while family members pulled in multiple directions can just come and go.

Chili and tamales is on the list for this year. I might make a pan of oyster dressing just because I want some. Dessert is usually just a pie or two.

I know I’ll get poopoo’d for this, but I can do without green bean casserole. It just takes up valuable digestive space.

Mrs. Del wants brisket and stuffing with extra celery.
I want cheese grits, and buttermilk coconut pie for dessert.
Pipeson wants jambalaya.

Mrs. Del will make the coconut pie.

[EDIT] I just learned that we are having second Thanksgiving on Sunday with Cigarson and his wife. I don't know yet if we are hosting or guesting. YIKES!

My office mate and I talked about this yesterday. Green bean casserole is the thing that we hate the most.

Thanksgiving & hate seem a bit incongruous.

But we're talking about green bean casserole.

Favorites: Sweet potato casserole (no marshmellows, yuk!), sausage stuffing/dressing, brown turkey dripping gravy, beef house rolls, brined turkey, crock pot green beans
I'm a pretty traditional Thanksgiving kinda guy. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. We may add baked brussel sprouts as an appetizer this year. We've mastered the above meal for Turkey Day and it's my all time favorite meal of the year.

Alternative's: number one daughter makes an amazing carrot cake that I love and I generally don't like carrot cake

Traditional's I just as soon skip: green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, and olives
