Got new eyeglasses today. The shop has a sign "2 for $99". I spend $700 for 2 pair. That's after 'insurance'.

I'm glad I went. I won a Craftsman 10 Drawer rolling tool chest. Was looking to buy a tool chest when the money came available. Guess I'll spend it on a work bench.

Two guy neighbors and I were sharing a drink the other night and the guy two doors down showed us a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon. Said he paid $100 for it a few years ago in Kansas City. Yes, Kansas City. We grew up perhaps 30 miles from each other and we ended up living 100 yards apart, 750 miles from 'home'. The other dude is from Canada but he moved to TX as a child so he's more Texan than Canadian. I like him anyway. Kansas guy is 15ish years younger than me and Texas guy is 35ish younger. It's a nice mix - they keep me in the groove of the modern world and share regional craft beers while I fix their stuff or loan them the tools to do it themselves.
