I could get behind that Christmas/New Years tradition. Unfortunately, my situation is not any better than Del's in that the tamale lady's migratory patterns do not pass through Indiana this time of year.Hovannes wrote: ↑12 Dec 2022, 15:43Home made tamales are a Christmas/New Years tradition among some communities, and there always seems to be a kindly tamale lady to keep grateful gringos from missing out on the tamale action.sweetandsour wrote: ↑12 Dec 2022, 03:51 I wasn't aware that tamales had a season. Tamale "apocalypse" might imply that all tamales were being destroyed, or perhaps that tamales were destroying everything. Tamales are a cause for celebration! The holidays are tamale days!
We have placed our annual order with the local tamale lady for the 22nd. Feel free to stop in, Del.

I am not as cool as JimVH. Nor or you. Well, unless you ARE JimVH.

I read somewhere that Apocalypse actually means something like Revelation.

This. Or 'revealing'. The great Tamale Revealing? Ok, I'll allow it, it still works.
Here I stand. I can do no other.

God has blessed me to be able to partake of the tradition. Two of my uncles married into Mexican families, both of which made tamales during Christmas/New Years. I don't remember a childhood without attending "The Tamale Party" with all my cousins.Hovannes wrote: ↑12 Dec 2022, 15:43Home made tamales are a Christmas/New Years tradition among some communities, and there always seems to be a kindly tamale lady to keep grateful gringos from missing out on the tamale action.sweetandsour wrote: ↑12 Dec 2022, 03:51 I wasn't aware that tamales had a season. Margarita makes them for us and delivers them in a rolling igloo cooler. I usually get the chile rojo, half and half puerco and pollo.
There's also a lady near the office that sells them out of her trunk in a parking lot. She often has dessert tamales, too. I've had the cream cheese, pineapple, and cinnamon raisin tamales. All were good.
If your tamale transaction doesn't resemble a drug by, you're probably not getting the best stuff.
