I am not initiated in the Greek Orthodox virtue of praying with beads.

Also, the picture above has 17 beads in the loop.
While the picture below has 19 in the loop and one on the tail. So question about Greek Orthodox prayer and math.
This is Kompoloi, nothing to do with prayer. It's a personal item that you carry with you and depending on the materials-way of playing with it shows some things for your character. Helps you when you are alone or you want to think calmly or to have your hands busy when you are waiting for the coffee to come although some idiots ''abuse'' it's use and have it for show-off. Kompoli is not for a bar or a restaurant, you don't play with it in front of your manager, inside a school or in a meeting or in a church.

Orthodox Christian Priests have no Kompoloi inside the church, the Monks on monasteries have this:
https://www.monastiriaka.gr/images/cach ... r--244.jpg

https://www.vimaorthodoxias.gr/wp-conte ... 061bea.jpg

which is cheap, made by rope each knot is a prayer and absolutely NOT for swirling.

My Kompoloi are custom and you can not find them in any store to buy it, are unique. Depending on the size-weight of the beads i choose the total number which is single (15-17-19) and NEVER double (18-20 etc).
The tassel (in the latest Kompoloi of mine) is made to match the colour of the beads and the length is determined from their size.I always have in mind the ''Balance'' which means when i swirling it the weight must be 50%-50% so the whole move is smooth, takes the same time and produces 2 kinds of sounds (bead with bead and tassel with bead).

I like this guy above, very much!

American adult men do not allow ourselves to play with such toys. Tobacco pipes are also fun toys, so Americans do not enjoy them.

You are lucky to be Greek.

I found video of a man who plays with komboloi and speaks English:

This Komploi is Stock ''as is'' from a store, there is no customization on it and has no tassel which means the owner is not ''Devotee". Yes, he plays it in proper way, the techniques are good but this is when you are alone, in public if you play it (swirling) for a long time due to the noise attracts negative comments and in some cases they will force you to stop it. In a Court of Law, Army, Police, Hospital, Church, Graveyard ceremony etc playing the Kompoloi is forbidden.
The best way in a Cafe is the ''rub the bead" ''drop it one by one'' ''half to half" ''drop the half and vice versa" because this way you can think calmly and better.

Very nice!!

Most recent couple of bowls for me was Union Square in a Luciana semi-horn POY. Very good aged tobacco.
