It was labeled as jalapeno. It is shaped and smells sort of like a miniature bell pepper, but hasn't the color, and has a little kick to it. It doesn't taste like jalapeno.
What kind of pepper is this?

Wow. Looks like something from the habanero/scotch bonnet family.
But those don't have just a "little kick." They will kick your pecker into your watch pocket.

It's not habanero. I'm too chicken to really get a very big taste of it, just wafts, etc, but I'm still fairly sure it's not habanero. The folks at the feed store where I got the plants didn't know either.Del wrote: 16 Nov 2023, 17:52 Wow. Looks like something from the habanero/scotch bonnet family.

Sort of. But the leaves of mine are smooth, and the seeds are white.

This brings up a question I have. Can peppers cross pollinate? I once planted bell peppers next to Cayenne peppers and jalepenos and got some pretty weird peppers in appearance and taste.

I learned from an expert, that my mystery pepper is a habanero. I commented that if so, then it's a mild one, just based on my experience. Apparently that's possible.
