Cool indeed! The first plane I ever flew on was an Otter.

The Otter's wings are above the windows, which makes for good viewing of the ground.

Most people don't know that Otters have wings...

I'll bet not.

Back in the early '80s, service from Beaumont to Houston (I think by Eastern Airlines), was on twin engine Otters. It felt like real flying, vs the large jets. Anyway I was at the back of the plane on one flight through a thunderstorm, holding on and belted in, and still my head would occasionally bump up against the ceiling. The plane would abruptly turn sideways then back, which would cause the sliding doors of the cockpit to slam open then slam back shut, providing a glimpse of the pilots holding on, doing their best to control the plane. It was a hell of a ride, and I'm pretty sure the plane was struck by lightning also, but we finally got through it in time to quickly descend down onto the runway and come to a screeching stop, before idling up to the designated parking spot at the end of the terminal, out of the way of the jetways.

It's been 115 deg. here, so I thought a day trip to Monterey where it's been in the mid-60's would be beneficial.
That turned into an overnighter.
Now we're back home and it's 115 degrees.
