I hope the first thing President Trump does is somehow save Rudy G.. He's been through hell.

1. Rudi told a lot of lies about a lot of companies and individual citizens. He caused very real harm and he should be punished civilly at least. He's lucky he's not in jail.

2. Right on. I expect the pipeline project to be cleared within a week after Trump's installed in office.

3. S&S - I've seen a few articles where the authors assert that our domestic refinery's aren't built to refine domestic oil and it would cost a lot to make them so. Is this accurate? I imagine the authors support green energy and may be saying this to quiet the calls for increased domestic drilling. My local coal-fired electric plant was built for, and uses, coal from a specific region of Wyoming so I know the process' are tuned for specific inputs but I don't know if it's simple as adjusting a few valves, timers, and heat settings to switch.

Maybe S&S is thinking that torching a distinguished political career in service to an Orange Fascist is punishment enuf.

Just spitballin'.

No, not exactly. S&S is just reading the news and reading those that RG supposedly defamed, and for some reason has a feeling of Christian mercy towards someone singled out, to lose his house, car, law practice, license, and everything else that he owns. Enough is fricking enough. If he really truly believed that what he was doing was defaming good people, then some form of punishment is ok, but geez.

That's was very disheartening to me. He did have a very distinguished political career and I admired him for that, so, at first, I trusted him as he called the election and the results in to question. Turns out he tried to torch the careers of others (election officials, judges, and even state governors) as his went up in flames.

Fred, any first hand info I may have had on local refinery configurations is now ~10 years old, and I'd have to do a little research to accurately answer your question. When I was working at a refinery here in Port Arthur (early '80s) the refinery was set up to mainly run light to medium, lower sulfur crude, and at one point added some capabilities in order to run more waxy crudes. "Domestic" crudes vary from low sulfur (0 - 0.5%) to medium S (~2.0%), and range from light to heavy (~30 to ~39 API gravity). I'm not immediately sure where the crude from shale and oil sands fits in.

Refineries set up to run whatever crude(s) they happen to have contracts for, and before changing crude sources, complex evaluations take place. A couple of good friends and co-workers of mine at the refinery where I worked did crude evaluations full time, with the use of research scale vacuum pipe stills. Nowadays folks probably use fancy GCs and other equipment.

In short, my WAG is that most large refineries in the US are capable of handling a wide range of sulfur and API gravity, both WRT emissions and production. They'll refine whichever crude is most economical, but even then, it's more complicated than just that.

1) I am convinced that Americans were utterly disgusted by the lawfare of the Biden Admin and want to see justice restored. Every time a new charge or trial hit the news, Trump's poll approval spiked upward.

Americans hate the idea of political prisoners.

Various Trump allies, non-violent J-6ers, and peaceful pro-life activists have been terrorized and jailed by Biden's DOJ. I expect that a lot of pardons and commutations are going to be on Trump's desk for Day 1 signatures.

2) I don't know if anyone is looking to restart Keystone XL. It's dangerous to invest in pipelines and refinery updates when there's a risk that another Democrat Admin could cut them off at the knees in four years.

Oil industry was willing to make big investments during Trump's first admin. But if I were an oil company now, I'd be skittish. If Trump wants modern oil infrastructure, he'll probably have to offer taxpayer money from Biden's $1T infrastructure bill as an incentive.

Anyhow, I'm holding on to my oil stocks. It could pay me off well, either way -- but especially if my tax dollars are going into my oil stocks.

Let's make a deal: Let's pick a suitable date in the future.

If Trump does anything fascist by that date, I will apologize for myself and the foolishness of 53% of American voters.

If Trump doesn't do anything fascist, I will hold my peace and let you endure your shame in private.

In the meantime, no one says "fascist" on CPS again until there is actual evidence of fascism.

Deal? You can pick the date.
