Pope Francis names Cardinal Robert McElroy to lead Archdiocese of Washington, as 77yr old Cdl Gregory resigns.

Clergy abuse victim previously said his promotion “fills me with fear.”

McElroy favors numerous liberalising views, incl female deacons & LGBT inclusivity

This is beyond ridiculous. Biden awards Francis with a Presidential Medal Of Freedom with distinction.

This after appointing McElroy to the Se of DC

Wikipedia is slow to keep up with the culture. Their articles still encourage left-wing values and praise left-wing persons. So.... the article on McElroy still makes him sound like a left-wing activist and a squish Catholic. I hope that he isn't really as creepy as this "independent" report lauds him to be....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_W._McElroy
Eucharist, LGBT
In America, McElroy called for a change in sacramental discipline related to the reception of communion by sexually active LGBT people. He emphasized "the privileged place" of conscience and that sexual activity does not lie at the heart of the hierarchy of truths. He also said: "The distinction between orientation and activity cannot be the principal focus for such a pastoral embrace because it inevitably suggests dividing the L.G.B.T. community into those who refrain from sexual activity and those who do not."
There's a whole lot of upside-down here.... "sexual activity does not lie at the heart of the hierarchy of truths," but sin does.

And a Cardinal should not be concerned about "dividing the L.G.B.T. community." He should be concerned about dividing the Catholic faithful community. And we are always concerned about making a clear division between those who are faithful in the saving grace of God, and those who are entangled in sin and peril.

The Church is a hospital for sinners, and they are welcome... and called to repent. We are not supposed to turn the Hospital into a brothel, where sin is permitted and repentance is discouraged.
================

McElroy was all squish on Biden and abortion.... but he is all righteous against Trump and securing our border.

I'm rather convinced that McElroy is a California Democrat, first and foremost, and he is conveniently Catholic when he can press the Church to support Democrats or oppose Republicans.

Border Czar Tom Homan responds to Catholic outcry over Trump’s deportation operation, calls out the Pope for living behind massive 30 foot walls.

Homan told the Pope to fix the Catholic church before he starts criticizing the United States.

“They have a wall around the Vatican. And if you illegally enter the Vatican, the crime is serious. You'll be charged with a serious crime. Be jailed.”

“So he can protect the Vatican where he lives. He can build a wall where he lives, but American people are not allowed that.”

“The Pope ought to stick to the Catholic church and fix that. That's a mess.”

Joe Biden created a moral knot that cannot be untangled.

If Joe had let a few tens of thousands in, then secured the border and granted amnesty to the lucky few... We could live with that.
Kamala was his Border Czar. She could have thought of this.

But they let tens of millions in, and failed to adjudicate them justly. Now we have a mess that we cannot resolve without suffering.

- If we let them all stay, it is profoundly unjust to legal applicants striving to become Americans. It is unjust and dangerous to the present citizens, having to support so many aliens and endure so many criminals.
- If we round them all up and deport them all home (or force them to wait outside America while their asylum requests are processed), it is justice without mercy.
- If we force some out and let some stay (say, those currently residing in Sanctuary cities), we accomplish the worst of either option.

Under the circumstances handed to us, we are doing the best that we can do

Meanwhile, Pope Francis needs to let young priests celebrate the Tridentine Latin Mass. The devout TLM Catholics would be his more ardent supporters in his social crusades, if he had not alienated them by the millions.
Francis's squishy support for homosexuals has been a net loss for him.

Seems to me that Homan may have forgotten the venerable Catholic distinction between the Teaching Church and the Hearing Church, or at least, forgotten his more humble place on that pecking order.
