Wagner Pipes?

Post by Bloodhound »

So a couple of years ago Goose had a Wagner Pipe...we were unable to make a deal and he sold it. I recently saw another Wagner pipe on the auction site...the stem is oxidized and it will need a little TLC but I got it cheap.

All it says is "Wagner" "Selected Imported Briar"

When I try to look it up, I come up with French pipes, Danish Pipes, and 2 custom makers Michael Wagner and Peter Wagner. The stamping is very square and doesn't look like the custom pipe stamping I have seen. Any ideas as to the history or info? Here is the pic from the auction site. It feels like a decent pipe...and it should clean up fine. I was only interested, because my last name is Wagner...oh and it was not expensive...the seller was an antique shop.

It's almost certainly another Wagner, but there has been an Austrian guy called David Wagner who made beautiful pipes.

Ether!

Good to see you.

A Wagner for a Wagner. Seems appropriate.

Well thanks to Biff then. Although being a mere lurker for quite some time, I wouldn't want to do without the occasional visit.

At least I'm the most active Austrian guy and I want my medal for that ;)

He was best known for Der Ring des Nibelungen. Pipe making was a side hustle.
I am not as cool as JimVH. Nor or you. Well, unless you ARE JimVH.
