At the Big Fresno Fair training this afternoon I learned that Benny suddenly passed away on the operating table at the VA hospital. He was one person who really made working at the fair fun. A few of us would hang at Benny's stand before the gates opened and Benny was always full of good vibes. He learned auto mechanics from his dad and was an Air Force Aviation Ordnance Tech during Viet Nam, then became an automotive service writer until retiring.
His son was a Marine Corps Bomb Demo Tech and while he was serving in the sandbox, Benny did a primo restoration of his son's 1970s muscle car (Mustang? Camaro? I don't remember) that was waiting his son's return.
A lot of us are going to miss Benny this Fair run.
Benny RIP
