Due Process
Let me explain this to you in small words and simple phrases:
Due process is to apply for immigration according to standard policy, wait in the home country, and enter when permission is granted.
Those facing emergencies can apply for asylum, according US and international rules concerning asylum.
For these,
Due Process is a court hearing to evaluate the asylum claim.
This is Due Process for waiting:
US border policy decides where asylum applicants wait for court hearings.... wait somewhere in the US, or on the Mexican side of the border, or in their home countries. The international standard is to wait in a safe nation closest to the war zone or other disaster that forced people to flee their homes.
Anyhow, Biden let asylum seekers enter and go wherever they wanted, in defiance of US Law. Biden let millions in without due process.
Trump is changing the policy on waiting. He is promulgating the change.
Homan is enforcing the policy, prioritizing with dangerous criminals and searching for hundreds of thousands of lost kids.
In the meantime, we hope to swiftly process the peaceful supplicants with court hearings.
A great many asylum applicants will not qualify for asylum. They just wanted to come to America for the opportunities available here. These will be sent home and invited to apply for immigration according to the normal means.
Once we are able to secure the borders, we can be more generous in processing applicants. But we have to secure the border. In part, we must establish that illegal migrants will no longer be given free permission to remain.
This is exactly what you say the bishops want.
==========================
But what the bishops really want is clemency for peaceful illegals to remain.... Even those who are waiting for due process. Even those who do not qualify for asylum.
And for my part, I am sympathetic to the bishops' request. But no such clemency can be considered until we get the border secured and end illegal migration.
I recall that you were opposed to any border security, walls and such, when we were in a position to avoid the mass migration problem.
Well, you got your wish. This is the fault of your ilk, not mine.
And now we must have mass deportations to restore order and justice, whether we like it or not. We must make it clear to the world that America is no longer neglecting our border security.
