For her 21st birthday, daughter #2 asked to go to the casino with Mrs FredS and I. I'm not foolish enough to think she'd never had a drink, but still, it was cool that she wanted to do her first 'adult' thing with her parents. We're not gamblers, but we'd been a couple times, and the girl had seen a million television commercials. After about 15 minutes she rounded us up at the slots and said "I'm ready to go. This isn't how it looks on TV."
Got any trips planned?

Well done to all involved. Great decision from the young lady.FredS wrote: ↑28 May 2024, 10:38For her 21st birthday, daughter #2 asked to go to the casino with Mrs FredS and I. Good laugh at this. I'm glad you're back, bud.

Got any trips planned?
Reporting in from Ireland....
Met a whole bunch of fun guys at the pubs! This is what I came for; huge win.
The chef knives at our Air BnB are profoundly dull. Fortunately, I found a pub that is also a hardware store. Just a small pub, with taps on one wall and a crowded stack of hardware bits on the other. I order a pint and a sharpening stone. Sipped the pint while the bartender rummaged the bits and tools until he found a full-size, two-grit stone. How awesome is that?!
========================
My favorite pub is a a combination bar/leather shop. Old Guy is busy all day, making custom belts. There was a cute-&-spunky little Irish gal who brought her brother (with Down's Syndrome) to this pub in Dingle to get him a new belt for his birthday. I asked the leather man if I could trouble him for a new hole in my belt, as I plan to lose some weight any day now.
Old Guy (sternly): "Did I make that belt for you?"
Me (defensively): "Sorry, no. But I'm happy to pay you for a proper hole."
Spunky Gal: "He's just winding you up, you know...."
Me: "I can't believe that anyone would do that in an Irish pub!"
I ended up buying a new black dress belt, which I really need anyhow. It should last the rest of my life. Great souvenir.
========================
Cigarson brought his mandolin. For two decades, he has carried the bucket-list dream of playing and singing with some guys in an Irish pub. We found a bar last night that seemed a good fit.... soon a half-dozen young guys were caterwauling along with some old Irish ballads and American country classics.
Cigarson had an absolute blast of it!
========================
Lots of typical sight-seeing. We climbed a mountain yesterday to see an ancient ruin overlooking the North Sea and got caught in the rain. Grand!
You guys are just starting work and checking CPS. I'm off to the pub for the afternoon. Cheers!

You should know me better than that by now.
I don't know how to take pictures with my phone, although I could probably figure it out if I ever have to.
I have no idea how to get pics from my phone onto a computer or server or whatever it takes to post them on CPS.
You'll have to settle for some stories.

We went to Sacramento to my nephew's son's high school graduation party, then continued North to Corning CA to spend the night at a Holiday Inn Express and chow down on excellent Mexican food for dinner at Casa Ramos.
This morning, we attended mass with the Trappists at New Clairvaux monastery in Vina, followed up with some serious wine tasting at the winery there.
I brought home a bottle of Tempranillo, Abbot's Reserve, and Syrah which I found all three to be outstanding.
Fun times!
