Regarding Hillary, I was referring to how Bill put her in charge of his grand healthcare reform. Arrogant personality aside, she was given a key role in Bill's administration. She blew it, and marred his legacy.Hugo Drax wrote: ↑20 Jul 2024, 20:06 Interesting post, Del, and there's a part of it I want to touch on.
Clinton was the first President for which I could vote. And I'm happy I did. I don't judge a man by his wife nor do I forget that we all like bimbos and have to suppress the urge to act upon our baser instincts. That feller balanced the budget and that's what counts on the political side of the board.
Both parties seem to have forgotten something. I'm not a far right reactionary as painted by the left nor a left-leaning conservative as painted by the right.
I hold most of the views of the Democratic Party circa 1996 and I will guarantee you I'm not alone. Y'all need to come back towards the middle ground.
Hillary convened a Super Secret Committee and, after several months, emerged with a plan to nationalize all healthcare under direct government control. This did not pass as legislation, but it caused a massive Red Wave of Republicans into both houses of Congress. Then lots of smoke and fire.
Yet in the midst of it all, Bill and Newt achieved a balanced budget. Bill won re-election. In foreign policy, Bill brokered the end of the Troubles and lasting peace in Ireland. He did not impede the Reagan Recovery, and presided ably over the Internet Boom economy. He merits a better legacy than he has.
As for bimbos.... I hear ya. If I were rich and powerful enough to attract porn stars hoping for a piece of me, I can't say it wouldn't be tempting. But tender interns and Epstein's girls? Clinton likes his young'uns more than he cares about his legacy, and that's that.
