Trump shot at Pennsylvania rally

Post by Del »

And..... a second armed assassination attempt aimed at President Trump.

Trump was playing golf in Florida. Shooter had set up on a fencerow. Secret Service agent ran ahead to clear the area and spotted the shooter. Shots fired, no one hurt. Shooter fled the scene; a witness snapped a photo of car and license. Local sheriff deputies apprehended the perp, now in custody.

Perp is 58-yo white male with criminal record and history of small donations to Democrat candidates and participation in peaceful left-wing protests.

Second time in 8 weeks that we have faced an assassination attempt of a presidential candidate. Never before in American history....

Chattering News heads are going tinfoil-hat, blaming the assassination attempt on Trump/Vance and their recent remarks concerning migrants who have overwhelmed the town of Springfield, OH. No self-awareness at all.

Somehow, this is hardly even news anymore. Another shot at Trump, yawn.

If anyone took aim at Biden or Harris, it would be news for weeks and months. I say this because "January 6" continues to be a topic of discussion, and that was 4 years ago. But the thousands of riots during Summer 2020 are quietly forgotten.

Trump shot at Pennsylvania rally

Post by Hovannes »

There's' a lot to unpack here----spotting the muzzle of a rifle barrel sticking through a chain link fence in a wooded area from across a fairway takes some amazing vision.
Taking on a rifleman with (presumably) a service pistol takes a lot moxie.
Behind the shrubbery is a major street with a bus stop, and shrubbery doesn't stop 9mm worth a darn and there were no civilian casualties.
A witness saw the perp leave the bushes and thought to take pictures of him and his car's license plate.
The perp camped out for the previous twelve hours in that strip of shrubbery with no one noticing.
How does a felon from Hawaii get all the way to Florida and buys an SKS?

Facts are trickling in, and I'm not yet sure whom to believe.

Background on the guy suggests that he is capable of conning enough cash to get from Hawaii to Florida, and enough savvy to buy a rifle kit on the black market. But dumb enough to carry his cell phone to the kill site. His phone pings indicate that he was in place at 2:00 am. He waited 12 hours in place before he was discovered, several hours before Trump decided that he'd like to enjoy a round on the course.

For now, my working theory is that this guy fancied himself to be a patient commando, willing to wait in place for long hours and days until he got his chance.

Just a guess.... but I suspect the Secret Service security likely put a few rounds into the ground in front of the rifle barrel, just to flush out anyone who might be there. And it worked.

Going back to the first assassination attempt (nearly killing Trump, while killing one rally attendee and wounding two more):

Senator Josh Hawley has released a comprehensive report of serious security failures. And attempts by Secret Service to cover up those failures.

Here is the executive summary:
