Right-Fascisms would include the usual suspects: Naziism, Mussolini's Italy, Franco's Spain, KKK, etc.

Left-Fascisms: Black Panthers, Weathermen, Zapatistas, Nation of Islam, etc.

Perhaps this example-based approach will prove enlightening.

:techie-eureka:
[…]

The common thread is that these aspiring totalitarians use riots, violence and terror to create chaos as they are seeking power.

And then after they have power, they use secret police, informants, lawfare and home raids at midnight (or dawn) to maintain control. And some sort of social credit score or "cancel culture." And censorship of news media, social media. And political prisoners... you get the idea.

Firmly in power, fascism looks like Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, and Biden's America.

MAGA is a populist rejection of fascism. We mean to tear down the Democrat Party regime and "secure the blessings of liberty" in its place. A return to Constitutional democracy.

[…]
Beyond the frenetic drawing of dubious connections, Fascism has an actual content. It has distinctives (or markers) which set it apart.

Fascism is not just a Delled-up way of saying "I don't like that".

:snooty:
Fascism has a long and colorful history of throwing political opponents in prison.
Trump 45 didn't do that in spite of some MAGA adherents wishes.
Trump 45 knew it was bad for the country, that it was fascistic.
Socialist position of possible Trump 47 have taken to claiming that a Trump 47 will cause them, the critics, to be imprisoned.
The logical response is that is Trump 45 didn't weaponize his DOJ against the likes of Hillary, Pelosi & Schiff, then what have the current harbingers of doom done differently to spur DOJ weaponization against them?

I know what fascism was, and I know what the new fascism is.

I don't know what you see in MAGA populism that in any way resembles fascism.

MAGA insists that MAGA is the rejection of fascism and a desire for freedom and prosperity.

Election Thread II: Kamala vs. Trump

I just watched a podcast with Jordan Peterson on Daily Wire:

Is Trump Dangerous: A Psychological Analysis | Dr. Jordan B. Peterson

It's a deep dive into the personality traits and resulting accomplishments of Donald Trump and his allies.

But under that rather boring and well-worn title, Peterson offers an astounding (and fun) insight:

Donald Trump is assembling a team of X-Men!

In normal times, all we really ask of a President is that he be a capable administrator and an able statesman.

But these are not normal times. Perhaps we need a creative action team of heroic courage and eclectic skills to save the world.
Elon Musk - a Tony Stark genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist
RFK Jr - charismatic, eccentric and intimidating
Tulsi Gabbord - who is, in truth, everything that Kamala Harris plays at being
Vivek Ramaswami - smart, self-promoting, creative, witty, articulate, young, entrepreneurial, and fast on his feet
JD Vance - the hillbilly, who pulled himself out of the Appalachians by his bootstraps, and who would normally be a poster-boy for the hypothetical "support the poor and working class" Left
Peterson puts his psychology training to work, analyzing the personalities of each member. If Trump were actually a narcissist (as his enemies insist), Trump would not listen to nor share a stage with Elon Musk. Musk rivals Trump in fame and eclipses Trump in genius, wealth, and accomplishments.

Also, a narcissist could not attract similar over-sized personalities wanting to work with him.

Peterson has sat down for long-form discussions with everyone on the team except Vance (they are scheduling an interview soon).

Elon -- brutal and efficient at cutting costs, waste, and staff, while making the enterprise more effective.
RFK -- bringing a fresh initiative on health and healthcare
Vivek -- a creative idea guy who likely to put forth novel solutions to cutting edge problems and see opportunities

Peterson appreciates the common sense of Tulsi and Vance. The team needs these voices to moderate the impetuous actions of the impulsive geniuses. Peterson describes the high-fliers as "a dangerously creative team." Tulsi and Vance are both fiercely intelligent (enough to keep up and contribute), but also strong, calm leaders with their feet on the ground. Not quick to panic under pressure.

Vance will make sure that the working class are never forgotten.
Tulsi will brake any sudden urges to military action. Peterson believes Tulsi is the only woman on the political landscape who is truly capable of being the first Madam President.

It is telling that Trump, Musk, RFK, and Tulsi were all Democrats until rather recently, and darlings of the Democrat Party until they were thrust out for defying the fascist orthodoxy.

The talk was accompanied by some great artwork, with all the characters drawn as superheroes. JD Vance as Wolverine.

Tulsi looks great in spandex.

Kamala's branding of Trump as being fascist mimics Hillary's accusation of Trump's Madison Square Garden venue as being a reenactment of the Nazi rally pre-WW2.
Trump didn't imprison Hillary and her ilk for election interference, which looks to could have been a slam dunk considering what has been discovered about the Russian collusion hoax Hillary financed.
But he didn't.
Has Hillary learned nothing?
Will Kamala?
Which begs the question, is the Democrat machine trying to instigate a textbook fascist response from a possible successful run by Trump?
I've got to wonder

Hillary thinks we're just stupid. So insulting. So condescending.

Trump held a rally in Madison 'Square Garden....

Hillary says some American Nazis held a rally in Madison 'Square Garden in 1939, so Trump's a Nazi.

I say that Frank Sinatra held a concert in Madison 'Square Garden in 1974, so now Trump's an Italian crooner.

And in 1992, the Democrat National Convention nominated Bill Clinton as their candidate for President -- in Madison 'Square Garden. So either Bill is a Nazi or Trump is a Democrat. I'll have to ask Hillary; she should know.

I greatly admire Peterson. He reminds me of William F Buckley standing “athwart history, yelling Stop, at a time when no one is inclined to do so, or to have much patience with those who so urge it.” Both brilliantly articulate men, always communicating the need to slow it down a little and really consider, collectively, where progressive policies are going to land us.

I also admire the X-Men, particularly RFK Jr. He and Gabbord will be outstanding cabinet members who clearly put the good of the nation above their own.

I don't really watch the national news. Hell, I only watch the local morning news for the weather forecast, as if I were still a man who's work is impacted by the weather, which leads me to my question:

Has Harris done any of the 'Dirty Jobs' photo ops?

Has she held an outdoor rally on the fairgrounds? Has she spent a few minutes behind the counter at McDonalds? Trump is rich, clearly not a man of the people, yet he gets down here and kisses babies and all the other corny political shtick. I know Harris and Walz have been filmed drinking a beer, and wearing flannel shirts and going on fake pheasant hunts but they just look weird doing it. Trying to pretend like that's the real them. Harris saying, "Yeah, I'm a gun owner. I shot my Glock just the other day." When Trump visits the real world he doesn't pretend it's his world but he does show he at least cares about it enough to show up. Maybe she does too and I'm just not seeing it in my echo chamber.

Here's the whole story, for those who aren't minding the details:

Kamala held a huge rally, bussed in tens of thousands, to give her "closing arguments" case to voters. She held it on the same White House steps where Trump led his Jan 6 rally, to hammer home her case that Trump is a violent dictator while she is the candidate of national unity.

Nobody is talking about this. Because.... instead of attending her rally, Joe Biden was inside giving comments on a Zoom interview.

Biden was asked about a rude joke that a comedian made at Trump's Madison Square Garden rally. The roast comedian quipped about a mass of garbage floating in the ocean -- "Puerto Rico." The audience booed, of course. But roast comedians insult everyone, and he got lots of boos. Trump hated it.... "I don't know who that guy is. He's not part of our campaign. He's not part of the Republican Party. Somebody booked a comedian for the rally, and he wasn't good."

Dem media have zeroed in on that one horrendous joke, as if nothing else was said at Trump's rally. So they pitched it to Biden, and this was his response:
https://x.com/SteveGuest/status/1851421 ... age-insult

This sucked all of the oxygen out of Kamala's "unity" message. She's not even a headline.

Meanwhile, Biden has gone viral. He might as well have called half of Americans "deplorables" or "Nazis." White House, Kamala campaign, and Dem media are doing everything they can to walk this back. Too late....

So Trump pulled up to Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI, in a garbage truck with "TRUMP" branded on the side. He gave a press conference from the truck window, having fun like the McDonald's drive thru presser last week. He did the whole rally wearing his orange safety vest.

Everybody else is having fun with this, too. When convervatives are offended, they don't get pissed off. They respond with memes and mockery.

SKY News is an Australian independent media. Very conservative, light-hearted, and pro-TRUMP. This is the story they put together: (8 min)
