The OFG's Pocket Knife

Post about everything from carrying a handkerchief to manly skills (sharpening a pocket knife, etc), to product reviews of items that may have slipped inder our radar (ie Grandpa's Pine Tar soap). No threads on anything 'new' unless it hearkens to old-fashioned sensibilities and ideals.

The OFG's Pocket Knife

Post by Hugo Drax »

I bought two Italian pocket knives last night on ebay. A scarperia and a pugliese. Frosolone is the manufacturer. Rather inexpensive.

We shall see. I think I'm going to collect peasants knives from around the world. Something about agricultural knives appeals to me, I guess.

Enablers, indeed.

I'm anxious to see them.

You've had me reading about them, but I've held strong on buying so far. The more I read, though... well, you know.

Todays carry is a 2017 Red Bone Case Stockman.

I got this as a gift from our pal, Roadmaster.

Were you wondering what knife I am carrying today?

No?

Well, that’s too bad because I’m gonna tell ya anyway. It’s a Spyderco CTS BD1

I have the same model in carbon steel. Belonged to my old man. He was an old school guy who knew only old school, crappy, stainless steel, and refused to ever give it a second chance for knife blades.

That’s too cool, looks like an early 60’s model.

I favor the high carbon steel blades but I enjoy the occasional stainless as well.

In the current rotation and carried today is this Barlow with stainless blades made in Hong Kong.

Just put a nice toothy sharp edge on it.

Carried this today. Another Sabre brand Barlow but this one was Made in Japan.

Don’t be fooled by the quality or lack of quality on the finish, this Mofo is sharp, has strong snap and no wobble.

The Barlow style knife is the only “cheap” knife that I’ll carry and use.

I do have a fine Quality Case XX (1962 era) Barlow with bone scales that I’ll carry on occasion too.

B.O.T.D.

Blade of the day in my pocket today is a Schrade 280OT which is a very solidly built and useful knife with a razor edge.

I'm the proud new owner of a 2020 Case Canoe. Carries light as a feather.

Now I'm looking at Elephants Toes.

Hi. I'm Paul and I have a problem, lol.
