I'm sorry, Fred.
Thanks. She was a Morky, racked with tumors. She never seemed to be in pain and got excited and ran around in the mountains and river whenever we went. Still loved her walks but could only go around the block once. It's never an easy call so you pray for a 'sign' when to pull the plug. She came in Sunday evening with some guts hanging out her backside so that sealed the deal. She got to be grouchy as hell with other dogs, no matter how big, and went nuts if they came in to her space, but would still run up to every neighbor (especially kids) for some lovin' even at the end. If she was outside when neighbor George's dinner delivery came, she'd run over and wait on the porch with the driver until he opened the door, just to say 'hi'.

Scooby:

Has a bed of his own in the living room

Sleeps in my bed

Doesn't get any of my meals (my brother is a different story) but does get to "pre- rinse" any dog- safe dishes going into the dishwasher

Goes on vacation with me- he's even been to a monastery

I can't remember the first 2 lines of Coco's haiku, but the last line was "she gets what she wants".

Every Sunday I meal prep her food for the week.

That prompted eye rolls from some of my less enlightened acquaintances.

I'm sorry, Fred. Being a human stinks sometimes.
