I don’t think that’s what they meant at the dog park when they said “You’ve got to put yourself out there”.

My kids want a dog soooooo bad. We close on our house in 3 weeks. Will start looking then. And I know I'll be doing all the dog chores in about 6 weeks.

A dog will teach a kid to turn around three times before sitting.
That's good.
It'll save you $$ on laundry detergent and wear and tear on clothes.
It will also condition your kids to failure when it comes to playing musical chairs.
It's a paradox of Chestertonian proportions.
