New Bike Time

Third in line is the On-One Bootzipper. This is basically a backpacking bike running 29er wheels (can order 27.5 wheels with it so I could run either). It's the cheapest of the bunch but there is a $300 shipping charge as it's coming from England. There is also a 45-60 wait time before it lands on my door. The build spec is decent and it has hydro discs on it stock. I'd have to run a set of something like Jones loop bars to get multiple hand positions and the correct upright riding position. I've also seen it with dropbars but would have to replace the hydro brake levers with some dropbar hydro brifters.

I've owned a On-One way back. Enjoyed it a lot. The main problem is if there is a warranty problem you're out of luck.

Hunting you could use either a mtb or a gravel bike (with big tires) to handle about any surface. Depends a lot on what you want your riding position to be. You can even get one wheeled trailers to pull behind the bike to pull stuff along.

A lot of people are getting into bikepacking. You attach everything you need for a couple night camping to your bike and head out.

I few years ago I picked up a Jamis durango I love it I just have to ride it more(its still new car fresh

its super comfy on trails and it has a lock out on the forks for street riding.

The last one is the Van Dessel Whisky Tango Foxtrot. It has the best build of any of the bikes I've listed. A great wheelset. And it does have a cool twin top tube like the Retrotec bikes I've always wanted. Only negative is that it has a high standover height. I'd end up having to use a riser stem or alt bars like a set of Jones loop bars to get the right riding postion.

Two websites I've been using to compare bikes since I'm not able to sit on each of them.

First is Bike Insights. They have a large database of frame geos for a bunch of bikes. You can compare two bikes and it over lays one frame over the other so you can see how different they are.

Second one is Geometry Geeks Bike. Here they have a large database of all the geo specs for bike and you can lay out several bikes side by side and compare the numbers.

The internet is amazing at times.

Really, this is the last one on the list. Another bike from Breezer, The Thunder. The frame geo matches up a lot with what I'm looking for. Would have to change the bars to again a Jones Loop bar. Has a really high stack which would put the bars up high. The drivetrain is all Shimano, which I like a lot. Would have to change the front ring from a 36 to a 40 at some point. Can fit up to a 29 x 2.95 tire on both ends. This one may be the winner.

Well, I ordered the Surly Ghost Grappler tonight. Not able to get it locally but found one online.
