So there's a lot of gutting and cleaning going on at the VH house right now. Huge piles of stuff going to the trash and local resale charities. The cool part, though, is that we've uncovered a few real treasures. Yesterday I heard Rita calling for me from the inner recesses of a junk closet in the guest room. I walked in to find her holding an old Daisy Model 25 airgun in near pristine condition. I was stunned that there was a treasure of this magnitude in my home and I didn't recognize it. It had been her daddy's squirrel deterrent device for many years (after the City encouraged him to quit firing his .22LR. He never really 'left' the country after moving to town). Anyway, my curiosity took off. It has a s/n, so I took to the google and started researching manufacture dates. Not a concrete science with Daisy. The closest I got with all the references I found was that it was made in March, sometime between 1953 and the mid 1980's. Precision recordkeeping, right there. According to family lore it should be somewhere in the late 60s to early 70s time frame.

I soon found that the curator of the Daisy Airgun Museum would research individual guns and they had a reputation for being pretty accurate. There are so many variables that they can't just publish simple charts. Anyway, I filled out the paperwork and launched the forms to the museum. Then I made a huge mistake. I went to the museum website to send them a few bucks as a donation. In doing so I also ended up ordering a Texas commemorative Red Ryder BB gun with a custom engraved foregrip. I am far more exited about it than I would have ever guessed.

So here's the short version: Get rid of junk, find cool junk you don't want to get rid of, run as fast as you can down every google rabbit hole available, get caught in a nostalgia storm, spend money unnecessarily on more junk that your kids will have to deal with when you die. Boom.

BTW, I cleaned and oiled it and it's fully operational.

GM everybody, except boxed wine connoisseur Elizabeth Warren and her anti-rights ilk.

This lunatic has introduced a bill, S. 3223, that will:

- BAN bulk ammo sales
- BAN buying ammo for friends
- FORCE creation of a National Ammo Registry

I was just gifted several 1# rolls of 50/50 solder and a big hunk of sold lead flashing. :D
