So I found an old .22 pistol that I have been looking for. It is in the right stage of disrepair so the price is reasonable, but still fixable without sinking a ton of $$ on it and I can do most of the work myself.

I will post some pics as i start to work it over...it should be in my hands sometime next week.

Nice find. I've had my eye out for beginner gunsmithing projects. You've inspired me. I need to go do some reading.

Well the project has been delayed...The seller couldn't get his ducks in a row...BUT, it is finally here and I am headed to pick it up from the FFL guy. I'll post a pic or two later.

So I am not a great photographer...but the seller is way bad at it...
This first one is his pic of the pistol on the sales ad...the bottom 2 pics are mine once it got here...it is in much better condition than I was expecting. It is still a great project and I will have my work cut out for me, but it is going to be better/easier than I thought based on his photos. My photos are a little darker, but you can see that the most of the original bluing is there...in his pic it looks like it is all silver and rust, I will clean it and strip the old bluing and polish and then re-blue. The grips are in good condition, they will get a citris strip and clean and then light tung oil and it will be good to go...still with the look of age, but not mistreatment. The knob is missing on the take-down lever, but the lever operates as intended, so I'll keep my eyes open for a replacement, but I am not in a rush as it is functional as is.

This thread has inspired me to give my .22 a good thorough cleaning.
She deserves as much.
