But we're talking about green bean casserole.
And we should hate evil.

I am preparing the shopping list for TWO Thanksgiving dinners.

This requires a good, stiff drink.

Excellent suggestion. It goes with everything.

The biggest Turkey we can find (we like leftovers) stuffed to bursting with a white bread, onion, celery, salt, pepper, and olive oil stuffing
Turkey dripping gravy (auto correct made it dropping, glad I caught that)
Homemade cranberry sauce
Garden green beans with mushrooms
A warm brussel sprout salad my wife makes with walnuts, cranberries, and a delicious dressing
We do potatoes and or sweet potatoes sometimes.
Dessert is always pumpkin pie and or cheesecake.
During preparation there is some libation in easy reach. Gin and tonics, wine, bourbon, scotch, all depends on the mood of the day.

I've written on this topic elsewhere:

An Ode to Mashed Potatoes

An Ode to Mashed Potatoes

Smashed, and mashed with butter
What glories shall I utter
Of thee great spud?
How shall I tell your worth,
Hidden treasure of the earth,
Beneath the mud?
Simple, honest, countrified
Elevated! Sanctified!
And now to peel.
That you should be improved
Nature’s skin must be removed.
What a reveal!
Glimmering yellow-white
Beckoning the steel’s sharp bite
Cut down to size.
Baptized in briny brew
To boil the hell out of you.
Strain for the prize!
Add dairy! Salt and fat!
More butter! Another pat!
Use mighty force
By strength of man’s elbow,
Or by some plugged-in gizmo,
Finish the course!
Served up hot and steamy
Lo! butter-sheened and creamy,
Golden, wavy!
Now the celebration;
The apex of elation,
The end of anticipation,
O what glorious consummation!
Pass the gravy!

That reminds me of another traditional I don't like- cranberry sauce although I've never had a real homemade one so that might change my opinion but the canned stuff is disgusting.

My mother makes a homemade cranberry sauce everybody else seems to like, but I'm with you.
