I'm not a real athlete, especially not a competitive athlete by any stretch of the imagination however I did have a few okay seasons as an armature (Masters )alpine ski racer and even snagged a 3rd in a Far West Ski Association championship but that was all long ago.
My problem is that I am fond of my old racing skis and dislike the thought of throwing them out. There's a lot of memories attached although they'd mean absolutely nothing to anyone else.
I think they'd look cool hanging in my office or even the garage, or perhaps build something useful out of them. I don't know,
So I thought I'd ask here for ideas.
So....any suggestions?

TGI Fridays is always looking for flair.
I like the study decoration idea. They’d make cool conversation pieces.

I've seen plenty hung on the wall in an X pattern. Poles too. Medals, a number bib, lift tickets, or a framed picture of you on the slopes would be cool additions.
Knowing your age, I imagine yer boots are leather and might be worth some dough.
I've seen benches, tables, and even fences made from retired skis if you have a lot lying around.
Nail 'em to the bottom of an old washtub for all sorts of winter fun.

1. Drill a hole every 3-4 inches along the length of the skis
2. Hang skis on wall
3. Put the bit of each of your pipes into a hole for display
4. Tell your wife that you need more pipes to fill all the empty holes

I am not as cool as JimVH. Nor or you. Well, unless you ARE JimVH.

Yep my old boots are leather. It's funny, my newer plastic boots came apart while walking to a ski lift----the soles came right off.FredS wrote: ↑07 Dec 2022, 12:14 I've seen plenty hung on the wall in an X pattern. Poles too. It was a cold, embarrassing trudge back to the lodge. My old leather boots currently serve as book ends.

I'd hang them up somewhere, as though they are not retired and never will be. It's what I do with old hunting and fishing stuff. My favorite outdoors writer Gene Hill did the same thing, and so did my dad.
BTW I have a pair of ski poles, and I have no idea where they came from. I've had them since the late 90s, and I'm pretty sure one of my kids are the source. I've kept them all this time, thinking they may have some use in the marsh perhaps, I don't know why.
