I'm thinking about tomatoes.
They've got some great looking seedlings for sale at the University.
Costco should soon be stocking some plants as well.

I sure miss fresh tomatoes.

My raised beds need a lot of work before I can plant anything.

I'm running way behind with my spring gardening. But I did spray and fertilize all of the fruit trees and pecan tree last week, and I bought 10 strawberry plants yesterday. Vegetable plants are available at the stores but my beds are still not ready.

Today I learned that the local Ag University will have it's big garden sale on the 15th.
I should have the beds in shape by then.

My audio was terrible on this video for some reason.

I've got one raised bed weeded, and most of a second raised bed.
I'm nearly ready to start planting.

I'm trying something new----a Marglobe, which is an indeterminate tomato suited for containers. I'm going to put a couple of golden Zucchinis in containers as well.
I've never tried growing indeterminate tomatos before.
I'm also not planting San Marzanos this year. Apparently unless San Marzanos are grown in San Marzano Italy, they don't taste the same so I might as well stick with Romas.
I need to find some Caspians, then I'll be all done with the 'maters.

When I was a kid, my parents wanted a garden every Summer, That translated into I had a garden. It was part of my chores once the area was tilled, to rake it over and clean out the debris. The family would plant and then they were mostly done until it was time to reap the benefits...it was my job every day to water and then weed on the weekends. sometimes I could force my younger 2 siblings to help, but most\ of the time it was me, by myself. My stepdad said it would teach me to be ready to have my own gardens when I was an adult. I remember the chant, "I will never do this when I am an adult, I will never do this when I am an adult" Then I was an adult, and I got married...and my wife wanted a garden...so I did it when I was an adult...still hated every second of it. Then my wife found her limit of snakes while gardening, and decided that I could garden with the children, it would be good for them. That was the last time I gardened and I hope it is the last time. Penny plants rhubarb at the cabin but that is as far as we go. And since I am getting grumpy in my old age...I will not garden!

I am happy to hear that folks get so much pleasure out of it...it is a great hobby...garden well and harvest huge! I am going inside for a beer!

There is a bit of shade in the garden courtesy of an old Olive tree. A perfect place for a small bench and a pipe!
I noticed one of the tomato plants has little green 'maters already. The variety tab got lost but they look like a Romas.
Something is gobbling up the leaves on the Curly Italians.
