I'll bet it's awesome loading the dogs into one of those after a fun day chasing seagulls in the tide flats.JimVH wrote: ↑20 Apr 2022, 16:52I’ll bet you see those all the time up in the mountains, huh.

I was not mechanically inclined when I was young and driving old broken stuff, so everything I attempted was extensive at first. Water pumps, starters, carb rebuilds, brakes and bearings, etc.Troubadour wrote: ↑30 Apr 2022, 15:41 I was wondering what the most extensive car repair anyone has done by hand?
Years ago I did a fuel pump change on an old car (among other repairs) using a Hayne's manual and some online guides, and felt pretty proud of myself. If the need arose, I'd consider attempting an automatic transmission change, but I'm not entirely confident I could do one without taking it to a shop.
My cars are all out of warranty now and I’m more afraid of debt than I am car repairs, so I’m slowly easing back into shade tree stuff. I doubt I’ll take on any big jobs myself, though.
On a side note, engineers put pollution control sensors in some really bizarre places.
