Pipes that our mentors smoked

The only pipe smoking mentor I've had was Grandpa B. He was a bear of a man who, like many of his generation who'd been in the 'big one', was normally quiet, maybe even somber. But he had a nice wood shop and he enjoyed it when teenage FredS asked him to help build things. His pipes were smooth billiards and his tobacco was Sir Walter Raleigh. It never varied. By the time I started smoking pipes, he and his pipes were long gone, but I always have a few pouches of SWR around in his honor.
