Plain ole tobacco...
We need something started in this thread. I'll go and just say that the longer I smoke a pipe I find myself liking aros less and less, but with an odd exception. The only aros I do seem to enjoy are particular ones that I used to absolutely hate...Lakelands. Weird. Anywho, the bulk of what I smoke tends to be more "plain ole tobacco." Less complicated Va, burleys, and the like. I do, however, thoroughly enjoy some P.S. Luxury Twist Flake and the like, I guess.

I still smoke aros, but I'd bet they only represent about a quarter of my consumption. The overall number of blends I smoke continues to narrow, too, and over the last couple of years I've only opened about four, maybe five, blends. Right now its only uncomplicated blends like Dark Birdseye, OJK, and Paladin (yes, I said it).
I've long admired the old codgers that were content to smoke the same blend day in and day out. I'm hopeful that's the place I'm heading for.

I find that I smoke my aro's when I'm in the mood, or if I KNOW I'm going to be around non- smokers and I'd like them to have something nice to smell while I'm smoking. Sort of 'advertising' a bit.
And, of course, if my wife asks, "Can you smoke something with chocolate in it?" Which means she wants to join me out on the patio while I smoke - so I naturally and willingly oblige.
I'm still working through Rusty's opened jars of tobacco and saving up the tins. I've cracked a few tins since then, but I'm working through some 'codger' stuff too. Carter Hall, House of Window 'Revelation', Capt Black. Also smoking some GL Pease 'Piccadilly' right now.
Happy puffing, all!

Indeed. Hopefully the senses will return at some point.

I like the plain stuff too. I started my pipe smoking journey by smoking through every aromatic The Tinderbox had. I will occasionally return to BLWB and Piper's Pleasure from Boswell, but once I stepped into English blends I never looked back. Natural blends just seem to smoke better. The flavor profiles are much more enjoyable to me as well.
