On family vacations, one my dad's signature moves at rest stops was to include the family vehicle in the picture. It's a practice I still do today.

I remember those trips. And the red metal cooler. Before there was a McDonalds at every exit, when you had to stop for a half hour to make sandwiches for lunch.

Also, what an awesome thread topic by the man from Michigan.

Outstanding thread idea!

The three brothers. I'm the cute one. Grandpa stripped an old lawn mower and covered the holes with scrap wood so we would have something to race. We played on that thing for years running up and down their long chat rock driveway and shoving each other down pond banks.

This was way before parental supervision and PPE were cool.

Dad and my oldest brother in '58. Pre Child Protective Services, obviously.

I'd give a hefty sum to have those pipes in my possession today.

My dad and his grandpa in the early '60s. This one is almost too good to be true. Several years ago I asked a CPSr (OldWorldSwine) to paint it for me. He nailed it.

1942 Jeep by Ford. GrandpaS bounced this thing around the Colorado rockies then it went to my dad when the old man died. On one fishing trip to a high mountain lake the road turned to a trail and we had to abandon one vehicle. We ran out of room inside so my brother and I stood on the back bumper and held the grab bar for dear life. My buddy Colin and I painted the bottom half of the Jeep in his driveway when we were in HS. We never got around to painting the homemade cab.

Notice that sweet woodgrained Pinto wagon in the background. I'd love to have either of these cars now.

Mom cooking lunch on the Sears Roebuck knock off of the Coleman stove. (Note: obligatory inclusion of that gorgeous Country Squire in the background).
