The OFG Hat Thread

Post about everything from carrying a handkerchief to manly skills (sharpening a pocket knife, etc), to product reviews of items that may have slipped inder our radar (ie Grandpa's Pine Tar soap). No threads on anything 'new' unless it hearkens to old-fashioned sensibilities and ideals.

Is there a hat thread here yet?

Let’s see your OFG hat!

I have a few that I like including an Akubra, an Old school Tilley (actually made in Canada) and a Sunbody (Guatemalan palm) “Sam Houston” with a 6” brim that I wear whilst doing yard work as pictured below.

With the season turning, I could use a new Winter hat.
A fedora or homburg might be a spiffy addition to the hat rack.

I've never owned one of their straws, but the Akubra is one of the best values in quality fur felt hats available. All-weather durable, comfortable, and affordable.

It's almost time to pull out my felts. I spent the summer in this:

I think that guy ran over a squirrel and then pinned it to his hat.
I am not as cool as JimVH. Nor or you. Well, unless you ARE JimVH.

Or maybe a high speed bird crashed into it?

My youngest bro bought a $200 Stetson on his way to our fish camp last weekend. Sweet hat.

Important public service announcement: if you think you can pull off a Homburg, you can't.

Ask yourself, are you Anthony Eden? Enrico Caruso?

Even Michael Corleone looked like a cafone.

No Homburgs. Ask me how I know. Ask me how much it cost me to find out.

Just saying.

When I was dating my wife, I had two Boston Scally caps, one grey twead and one brown twead. like this one

Image

A short time after the wedding, my grey one came up missing...strange...then about 3 weeks later the brown one was missing. It was several month later that she fessed up and said that she hated those hats and that I couldn't pull that look off...she had thrown them away...
