My haunted eggplant garden

Post by Hovannes »

OK, the eggplants---Orient Express, hybrids which I got from the Ag dept at the local university, gave me a credible crop and then gave up the ghost last month, so I pulled them out, turned over the soil and started prepping the beds for next year's garden.
Or I thought I did.
Now I've got eggplants springing up all over the place now. Creepy Zombie eggplants that refused to die!
They're 6-8" tall and one has even blossomed
What to do? Try for an eggplant winter garden? Being hybrids, I probably shouldn't expect them to bear fruit. :?
Or should I?
This is truly creepy and just before Halloween, too.
Coincidence?

You're sure it's eggplant that came up? I'd say to leave it and see what happens.

I've got an unidentified plant right now in my fall garden that's got fruit on it. I'll post a pic. It looks sort of like a tomatilla.
The Indians will not bother you now, on account of ... you are touched.
