Tools for when they graduate

What should go into the toolbox you send off with your kids when they graduate/go out on their own?

The above list is pretty much what I keep at our cabin. Much of it is in a $100 set stored in a plastic 4 drawer box from HF. The rest of it is in a 5 gal bucket. The bucket itself can be used as a short ladder for changing light bulbs and hanging curtain rods or, of course, as a bucket.

An electric drill and set of bits is always handy.
If they're moving into a house, then a rake, a hoe and a shovel and maybe loppers will be useful. If they're moving into an apartment, no.

My grandson and his new bride bought their first house a couple of months ago. I bought them most of this list plus a nice step ladder as a house warming gift. I don’t think they were too impressed at first, but the first couple of times they were able to handle a house issue themselves they decided it was a badass gift.

I like FredS's list too.

I would add: make sure the plier set includes channel-lock type pliers. Also, an adjustable wrench.

If they're somewhat handy a voltmeter.
