What Made You Happy Today

A trick or treater. She was probably three or so dressed in a giant pumpkin costume proudly quacking like a duck at every stop, completely oblivious to everything except her own joy.

She left smiles on everyone she touched.

Good stuff.

I have always loved the gentlemanly pace and quiet dignity of backgammon. Proscribed moves and light conversation leave room for a cigar and a scotch.

Not with three girls, boyo. It's a Battle Royale complete with skullduggery, chicanery, and some very questionable behavior. My eldest is a total heel and would have been shot in the Old West. Her hands are constantly moving and she has a habit of tapping the board as she's "counting out her move" except she taps the wrong number of times to conceal the fact that she cheats like a mofo.

Oh, and my wife thinks I cheat because I've memorized the probabilities. I've been trying to lose for two hours but I can't lose to these maroons!

I've had the same EZ Curl bar for 25 years, and have loaded it with various combos of 5 & 10 lb plates. Today I put 25 lb plates on either side and was able to bang out 3 sets of 10 reps. Felt like a big boy.
Wishing you God's very best!

Mrs FredS is at the cabin to meet a serviceman today. She sent me this a few minutes ago. The view out of the family room window.

What made me happy today maybe completely selfish, but among many other happy things that happened today, I just logged on to Abebooks.
For almost two years I been searching for Anthony Esolen's translation of all three books of Dante Alligheri's Divine Comedy, and tonight, Abebooks
had 'em new and in paperback!
I ordered them and I'm mighty happy about that!

I am very happy with CPS today.

There are so many guys who read (or at least want to read) so many of the classic works of wisdom and literature.

I've heard that Esolen's translation is the easiest to digest for modern readers, and I need all the help I can get.
