I'm looking for a good one for this Winter.
I had a couple of LL Bean Portuguese flannels that I had for about twelve years and had become so soft and comfortable it was crazy.
So soft and comfortable that, sadly, my kids ran off with them.
Even more sadly, Portuguese flannel shirts aren't in the LL Bean catalog anymore. Thier Chamois cloth shirts are still being produced, but those are far too heavy for my temperate climate.

Any other flannel shirt aficionados here?
If you have a well washed favorite, guard it with your life!
If you need to get a replacement, where are you doing your shopping?

Huh. I wasn't aware men bought flannel shirts. I mean, I guess it stands to reason but I've never had to make the purchase. They always come for Christmas like underwear and socks and one feigns a deep appreciation.

The two best I've found are 40 year old plus JCPenney's and Filson. But I've never sought them out.

I think if I wanted to find a flannel shirt I would search the local Goodwill stores first, then the thrift shops. BTW, thrift shops are popping up all over the place around here; they must be a pretty sweet deal for whoever runs them. Better than flannel though are old fishing shirts, like the old Gander Mountain or Cabela brands, probably available on E-Bay.

If you want to be hip, you could go with Dixxon flannels. I'm more old school though and not very fancy so I'd just buy one from Duluth or Bass Pro.

Cocopuff and I were in Nashville the other day, and wandered into a high-end menswear place. They had Portuguese flannel shirts. They were the softest, fluffiest flannel I have ever touched. They were also $150.

Part of the difference in flannels is how much they are "brushed." Brushing raises the fibers of the cloth and makes it fluffy. Duluth shirts are generally single-brushed, and thus not very fluffy. If fluffy is what you want, you might look for shirts that are double or triple-brushed.

It seems that LL Bean still makes Portuguese flannel shirts.
Made from the softest, longest-lasting Portuguese flannel, in the widest range of 100% authentic Scottish tartans. At first touch, you’ll understand why customers keep coming back for these exclusive shirts, season after season. Meticulously woven with longer-staple cotton for its high quality, then expertly brushed eight times on each side for luxurious softness. Authentic tartans are yarn-dyed for lasting color, and each color is carefully matched to the historical tartans in the Scottish registry.
I have a LL Bean flannel that MrsCoco got for me last Christmas. It isn't as soft as the one I mentioned in my previous post.
